Keeping 'em up

Last night was pretty good. Gainesville apparently has a concert on this little green in the center of town. We all went out to dinner and then we danced the night away. After about 90 minutes to two hours, Dulce had had enough. She wanted to go home. We got her to stay for another 20 minutes before she completely melted down.

Our kids...I wouldn't call them high-spirited, because that sounds like I think they are special, but damn, they are VIBRANT. They seriously ran and shouted and danced and went nuts for two hours straight. The other kids were having fun, too, but not like ours. This happens frequently. I wonder if it's because they have each other.

We took them for ice cream to change it up and get them away from the loud music at 11:20 p.m.

We were so close. They wanted to go home. I was like, let's go. But C said try to wait it out.

By 11:45 p.m. we had them strapped in the car. I looked at the time and said, well, we're only 15 minutes out, lets stay.

And we did! No fireworks, but a nice song for the new year and a countdown. Dulce sang valiantly along with the song and then right in the middle, stopped singing and looked at me.

"Mama," she said, "I really want to go home."

Hahaha. So we went.

It was our first family New Year's out.

I was having a self-confidence meltdown, so I wore a tightish red sweater that said holidays and sexy-but-conservative mom, skinny jeans and my sparkly four inch heels.

Then we danced for two hours on soggy ground.

That was hard. Serves me right for being a tool. Still, my feet are *almost* recovered. I feel like it was a good decision. lol
